Happy Summer Quilting
Our June meeting is over so we are now into the summer quilting season. Meetings and sewing sessions will recommence in September.
Becky Daley was congratulated on winning the Viewers' Choice at our Quilt Show. It was such a beautiful quilt - well done Becky!
Next season, we will have a block of the month, so look out for the details at our September meeting. There will be two blocks each month and the samples will be in Christmas fabrics, however, it does not have to be done in Christmas colours. it is up to you!
Janice d'Eon will offer a workshop on Wednesday 24 September - String Star. Janice had a String Star quilt at our quilt show which was much admired. Sign up at our September meeting.
Shelley Tye will offer another Quilt As You Go workshop, as her first one was so successful. This one will be held on Saturday 4 October. The String Star quilt would be a good candidate for this method. Again, sign up at our September meeting. We already have several people who have signed up so it may come down to whoever pays their money first!
The UFO challenge was won by Rita Baudoux - she won $34. Well done. And congratulations to everyone who finished some UFOs.
There were many door prize giveaways at our June meeting and many people went home with an extra something.
The draw was held for our Guild Quilt - the winner was Dale Walker, who is Carol Francis' sister. Congratulations.
And once again, the member who sold the most quilt raffle tickets was Rita - where would we be without you, Rita?

Our May meeting is approaching
Our May meeting will be next Wednesday 21 May. There will be lots going on!
Finally, we will have the big reveal of our BROWN BAG CHALLENGE. Members are encouraged to bring the items that they have made from the fabric that was in the brown bags. We will present these items to the owners of the brown bags. This should be a lot of fun.
Members are also encouraged to bring in the items they have made for the two Quilt Show challenges - pin cushions and Christmas ornaments.
A reminder of the workshops that were held over the past year:

Screen Tote bags (Janice d'Eon)
3 D Christmas wall hanging (Wilma Jenkins)
Christmas Table runner (Gloria Turnbull)
Sewing Kit (Anne Mattie)
Seminole piecing (Janice d'Eon)
Summer Flower Garden (Kate Anderson)
Miniatures (Linda Hubbard)
Programs over the past year included:
Christmas gift card
Photo frame
Teabag carrier
Postcards
For May, those on Sandwiches are:
Heather Campbell
Becky Daley
Julia Dorrington
Those on Sweets are:
Violet Cameron

BROWN BAG AUCTION - we will hold a brown bag auction at the May meeting. These auctions are always so much fun. Bring an item (related to quilting) worth up to $10 hidden in a brown bag so it can be auctioned off in a blind auction. You don't know what you are bidding on until you earn the right to open the bag!
Anne promises to offer a workshop in the Fall on Pictorial Quilts. So be on the lookout for big beautiful prints over the summer.
Hope to see everyone at the May meeting.
